HARDY Agronomy Ltd

Matthew Hardy - Independent Agronomist

Background

From a farming family, Matt studied at the Royal Agricultural College.

After graduating with an honours degree he spent a year traveling and farming across New Zealand before returning home to take up a job with a local Agricultural Field Trials company.  It was here that an interest in agronomy was formed.

Fast forward 10 years and with 8 years commercial agronomy experience with national corporate businesses he has set up his own Independent agronomy business in East Anglia, offering independent agronomy advice for cereals, sugar beet and potato crops.

What we do

Cereal Crops

Advice on all aspects of arable farming, from soil health and conditions, machinery selection, drilling rates, crop nutrition and manure planning, weed control and disease prevention.  Our aim is to grow your gross margin!  We believe in forward planning and long term farm development.

Sugar Beet

With current market prices Sugar Beet gives a great opportunity offering the highest potential gross margin of all arable crops.  Establishment, and early weed control is key to realising full potential.  We deliver effective well planned programs to ensure a first rate crop.

Potatoes

Potato agronomy requires regular visits, an effective spray program and detailed soil sampling both for nutrition and soil pest management.  Margins on potato crops are getting tighter, however a well managed crop can still give good returns.

Countryside Stewardship

Farming for the environment is an important aspect of modern farming.

Schemes are changing all the time, is SSI worth it? Mid Tier? ELMS?  We look at your business and discuss what you want out of an environmental scheme and advise on the best course of action.

Technology in Farming

It is important to get the basics in line first but with margins  getting tighter, one way to improve efficiency is through the application of certain technological systems. But with hundreds of options out there what is the best option for you?

Environmental Farming Advice

"Regen" farming is the word of the moment.  A word that encompasses a huge range of farming practices.  There is no doubt that a more sustainable farming practice is the future, but we help you and your business decide what's the best way forward.  With markets where they are can you afford to cut yield to save £150 on inputs?
